Democralink policy
Terms of Service
These terms govern access to and use of Democralink.
1. About Democralink
Democralink is a for-profit civic technology service. It is not a government agency, election authority, law firm, or official source of voting instructions. Official election authorities remain the final source for registration, polling, ballot, deadline, and election-result information.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate sign-in information, protect access to your account, and use one account per person unless Democralink expressly permits otherwise. You may use a public username instead of your legal name. You must be at least 13, and if you are below the age of legal majority where you live, you must have permission from a parent or guardian.
3. Your content
You retain ownership of content you create. You grant Democralink a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, format, display, and distribute that content as needed to operate, secure, and improve the service. This license includes displaying content in the groups, discussions, events, and civic contexts where you placed it.
4. Account deletion and durable discussions
You may delete your Democralink account from profile settings. We will remove or anonymize account identifiers and private account data. Posts, comments, group chat messages, event information, and governance history that other members rely on may remain, attributed to a deleted account rather than to you. This limited retention helps preserve coherent discussions, group records, source trails, and moderation history. You may contact support about content that creates a privacy or safety risk.
5. Acceptable use
You may not impersonate others, threaten or harass people, expose private information, manipulate participation through coordinated or automated behavior, spread deceptive voting instructions, upload malicious material, evade moderation, or use Democralink unlawfully. The Community Standards are part of these terms.
6. Civic and third-party information
Maps, representatives, elections, links, and other civic data may come from public agencies or third-party providers and may be incomplete, delayed, or inaccurate. Verify time-sensitive decisions with the responsible election authority. Third-party sites and services have their own terms and privacy practices.
7. Contributions and future paid features
Democralink may accept voluntary contributions and may later offer clearly identified paid features. Contributions do not purchase political influence, moderation preference, reputation, votes, or governance weight. Unless expressly stated otherwise, contributions are not charitable donations and are not tax-deductible.
8. Enforcement and service changes
We may limit or terminate access to protect users, comply with law, or enforce these terms. Features may change as the service develops. We will try to give reasonable notice of material policy changes.
9. Disclaimers
The service is provided on an “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by law, Democralink disclaims implied warranties and is not liable for decisions made solely from incomplete civic data or third-party content. Nothing here limits rights that cannot legally be waived.
10. Contact
Questions, removal requests, and legal notices may be sent to support@democralink.com. The final legal entity name, mailing address, governing-law language, and dispute terms must be completed with counsel before paid subscriptions or premium features launch.
